The head of the Turkic Academy extends condolences over the death of the famous Tatar scientist, folklorist Fatih Urmancheyev

The famous Tatar scientist, member of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan, folklorist, Doctor of Philology, Professor Fatih Urmancheyev died at the age of 84.

In this regard, the President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali extended his condolences to the family and friends of F.Urmancheyev.

“On my own behalf and on behalf of the staff of the International Turkic Academy, I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends, as well as to the students and colleagues of the outstanding Tatar scientist Fatih Urmancheyev. The death of Fatih Ibragimovich is an irreparable loss for the Republic of Tatarstan and the entire Turkic world,” the message reads.

Fatih Urmancheyev was born on May 28, 1936 in the Tatar village Krasny Mayak in the Azov district of the Omsk region. Since 1992, he worked at the G. Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan. He devoted his scientific activity to the study of works of Turkic and Tatar folk literature. Fatih Urmancheyev is the author of more than ten monographs and scientific publications on folklore, history, ethnography, literature and culture of the Tatar people.
