The Turkic Academy has declared 2018 the “Year of Magzhan”


Today, this was announced at a media briefing of the Central Communications Service by the head of the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) Darkhan Kydyrali.

This year marks the 125th birthday of Magzhan Zhumabayev, a prominent Kazakh poet, a generous figure of the Turkic world. In this regard, the Academy decided to translate into foreign languages and publish the works of the poet who was the initiator of the idea of ​​Turkestan. Particularly, within the scientific project of the Academy, well-known poet Muzaffar Akhmad started to translate the works of the poet into Uzbek language, a poet-translator Zhukel Khamai into Mongolian language, orientalist, scholar and poet Brontai Bedurov into Altai language, and Fuzuli Madjidli into Azerbaijani language. In addition, it is planned to translate Magzhan's poems into Kyrgyz and Hungarian languages. It is worth noting that last year the Academy translated Makhambet's works into Mongolian language and published them.

Moreover, during the briefing, it was noted that the TWESCO jointly with the Turkic cooperation organizations was planning to hold events dedicated to the poet's life and literary heritage throughout the year.
