Head of the TWESCO met with the Hungarian delegation
A special delegation from Hungary arrived in TWESCO. At the Academy, Representatives of the “Organization of Hungarian Political Prisoners expelled to Soviet Union and Forced Laborers”, established by descendants of Hungarians persecuted during the Soviet system, got acquainted with the Museum of Turkic History and the Turkic Library. Later they met with the administration of the Academy.
Leader of the organization Menzer Erzhebet, members of the organization and employees of the Hungarian Embassy in Kazakhstan attended the meeting. During the meeting, President of the Academy Darkhan Kydyrali introduced Hungarian guests with TWESCO's work. Noting that the observer status of Hungary in the International Turkic Academy was officially approved at the 6th Summit of the Turkic Council in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, he also reported on the work done in cooperation with Hungary.
The head of the TWESCO also noted that contacts with Hungary were not only in ancient times but also in the twentieth century: "Both peoples suffered a lot of repression. Along with the history of Hungary and Kazakhstan, their fate are similar." At the same time, it was noted that in the Soviet period many Hungarian prisoners were also brought to Kazakhstan. The guests also thanked the head and staff of the Academy and told about their future goals. After that guests continued their search of data about repressed persons.
