The National Libraries of Turkic speaking countries have established the Union
The congress of the Union of the National Libraries of Turkish-Speaking Countries and Related Communities takes place in Antalya, Turkey.
Heads of the National libraries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Bashkortostan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gagauzia, Kosovo, Macedonia, The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Sakha, Tatarstan, as well as representatives of international organizations and the leadership of Turkey's Rare Books and Manuscripts Department are taking part in the event, organized by the National Library of the Republic of Turkey.
At the congress, which has started on October 30 and will finish on November 2, a special Statute of Union of the National Libraries of Turkish-Speaking Countries and Related Communities was adopted.
The document determines main goals and objectives of the Union. Thus, the libraries of countries that have signed the document will be able to further share information on culture, economics and technology, exchange experiences for the optimization and improvement of the National Libraries, to organize various projects, seminars and trainings in that direction; to hold joint events to promote the culture and history of Turkic peoples.
By the decision of the participants, the Center of the Union will be in the city of Ankara.
