Conference dedicated to Istvan Kongur Mandoki will take place
International Scientific Conference dedicated to the 75th anniversary of famous turkologist, scientist Istvan Kongur Mandoki will be held by the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) in Almaty at the House of Friendship, on February 10-11, 2019. The event titled “The Great Steppe and the heritage of Mandoki” is carried out in the framework of the realization plan of the initiatives mentioned in the program article of the President N.A.Nazarbayev “Seven facets of the Great Steppe”. Turkologists, diplomats from Hungary, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and other countries, public figures, relatives of the scientist will be attend the event. The conference will discuss topical issues of Turkology and present memorable stories about Istvan Mandoki. In addition, scholars who contribute to the development of Turkology and Turkic integration will be awarded special awards of the International Turkic Academy.
On the eve of the conference, on February 10, a commemoration ceremony will be held in the grave of Istvan Kongur Mandoki in Almaty.
Recall that February 10 this year is the 75th anniversary of famous Hungarian turkologist, kipchak researcher Istvan Kongur Mandoki. The scientist devoted his life to the study of historical ties between Turkic and Hungarian peoples, to translation of literature, folklore and poetry of Turkic peoples into Hungarian, organized various expeditions. Personal book fund of the scholar including 16 thousand of books was transferred to the TWESCO Library in 2014. Istvan Kongur Mandoki died at the age of 48 in 1992. The scholar is buried in Kazakhstan at his own request.
