The commemoration of Istvan Kongur Mandoki took place
Today is the birthday of famous Turkologist, Kipchak people researcher Istvan Kongur Mandoki. 75 years passed since his birthday. A group of people laid flowers at the Almaty cemetery of Istvan Kongur Mandoki, the commemoration ceremony was organized by the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO).
President of TWESCO Darkhan Kydyrali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Kazakhstan Andras Barani, scholar’s wife Onaisha Maksumkyzy, Consul General of Hungary in Almaty Ferenc Blauman, scientists, public figures from Russia, USA, Kyrgyzstan and city residents took part in the ceremony.
Speaking at the memorial event, TWESCO head spoke about Mandoki’s life and his role in Turkic studies. He also noted that in Kazakhstan and Hungary, special memorial events are held in honor of the 75th anniversary of the scientist. The scientist's wife Onaisha Maksumkyzy expressed her gratitude to the International Turkic Academy and its leadership, who appreciated the scientist's merits and wished success to the work of the scientific conference on “The Great Steppe and the Heritage of Mandoki” scheduled for February 11 in Almaty. The conference will be held by TWESCO at House of Friendship in Almaty. Moreover, today, the Egemen Qazaqstan newspaper has published an extensive article in honor of the scholar's anniversary.
