Turkic Academy hosted an international meeting dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Aitmatov


An international forum on "Aitmatov's readings" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the great writer Chingiz Aitmatov was held at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Officials from Kyrgyz delegations, in particular the deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, the chairman of TURKPA Commission Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, another Jogorku Kenesh deputy Kanybek Imanaliyev, the People's Artist of the KSR, the film director Bolotbek Shamshiyev, the ex-Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic professor Medethan Sherimkulov, People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, poet Zamirbek Usonbayev and others participated in the event. Also, the event was attended by prominent Kazakhstani statesmen, diplomats, well-known Turkologists and poets-writers.

President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali delivered welcoming speech and hosted the forum. The Head of the Domestic Policy Department of the President’s Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Balayeva noted that the meeting contributed to further development of cooperation and cultural relations between two brotherly countries. Speakers also emphasized the symbolic significance that celebrations of "Aitmatov for Humanity" started in Astana, and said that such initiative would be an example for the entire Turkic world.

The documentary film titled "Aitmatov" by Kyrgyz director Artykbay Suyundukov was presented to the audience.

Moreover, on the eve of the forum the Turkic Academy has published a book of the corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, Ex-Secretary of State of the Kyrgyz Republic, Professor Osmonakun Ibraimov titled “Aitmatov. The Last writer of the Empire". The presentation of this book was held at the forum.

Participants of the international forum had an opportunity to listen to music of manaschy Bayangali Alimzhan, the Kyrgyz poet Zamirbek Usonbayev and others.
