Academy held a meeting on the transition to the Latin alphabet
Today, in Astana International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) held a meeting on the modernization of the Latin alphabet.
The meeting dedicated to the discussion of implementation of tasks of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev indicated in the program article on "The Course towards future: modernization of public consciousness”, published in the Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper, was hosted by the head of the Academy Darkhan Kydyrali.
Prominent state and public figure Mekemtas Myrzakhmetuly, a member of the Council of Elders of the Turkic Council Adil Akhmetov, academician Bolat Kumekov, Director of the A.Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics Erden Kazhybek, as well as well-known turkologists and linguists participated in the event.
Participants of the event, organized within the framework of the International Eurasian Book Fair 2017, shared their views on the transition of Kazakh language to the Latin alphabet, which was proposed by the President as one of the important projects to be implemented in the near future. They discussed issues and mechanisms of implementation of the transition to the Latin alphabet based on the experience of other Turkic people. Experts unanimously agreed that the transition to the Latin alphabet would raise the cooperation of Turkic nations to a new level, would improve scientific integration.
At the same time, there were made special reports on "Common Latin alphabet is a symbol of spiritual freedom" by E.Kazhybek and on the "Actual problems of modernization of the Latin alphabet" by A.Zhunisbek.
It should be noted that during the meeting, the International Turkic Academy presented to the public a monograph of the professor Alimkhan Zhunisbek on the "Common Turkic Latin alphabet".
