The 5th International Symposium on History Teaching was held in Istanbul
The 5th International Symposium on History Teaching, organized by the Turkish Historical Society at Ataturk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History and the Istanbul University, was held in Istanbul on May 10-12, 2018. More than 180 historians and professors of history from higher and specialized educational institutions attended the event. The reports on history writing, history teaching and historical research were discussed in seven sections.
The symposium, which discusses the general issues of historical learning and methodological systems since 2010, was organized for the fifth time in Istanbul and lasted two days. During the Symposium the President of the International Turkic Academy, Darkhan Kydyrali, reported on issues of the "Common Turkic History" textbook.
Expert of the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) Nabil Bazylkhan delivered a congratulatory message of the Academy’s president Darkhan Kydyrali, expressing greetings and warmest wishes to participants of the symposium.
The symposium was attended by the President of the Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Dr. Refik Turan, President of the International Turkic Academy Dr. Darkhan Kydyrali, a member of the Turkish Higher Education Society, Prof. Mustafa Safran, Prof. Hulya Caskan from Istanbul University, Professor of the Ankara University, Dr. Mesut Çapa, Professor Hassan Aidyn and other prominent scientists and historians.
An exhibition of unique international historical textbooks, collected by associate professor Yasin Dogan, was held during the symposium. Textbooks for secondary schools from more than 50 countries were presented there.
