A new Secretary General of the Turkic Council has been appointed
A new Secretary-General of the Turkic Council was appointed at the 6th Summit of the Turkic Council in Kyrgyzstan. Heads of the participating states approved the Kazakh diplomat Bagdat Amreyev to this post.
Bagdat Amreyev was born on March 1, 1959 in the Suzak district of South Kazakhstan region. He graduated from the Dushanbe State University, Faculty of Oriental Studies. In 1981-1996 he worked as a translator in Yemen and Lebanon, a lecturer at the Kazakh State University (now the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), head of the department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, translator in Iraq. In 1996-2002 he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, the Arab Republic of Egypt, additionally performed functions of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Syrian Arab Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco. Since 2011 he has been the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Bagdat Amreyev has always supported TWESCO's work. In 2016, the diplomat was awarded the Golden Medal of the Academy for his contribution to the Turkic integration.
