TWESCO and IICAS concluded a Memorandum of cooperation


Today in the city of Samarkand, the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO) and the International Institute of Central Asian Studies (IICAS) have concluded a bilateral Memorandum of cooperation.

The document, signed by the head of TWESCO Darhan Kydyrali and IICAS Director Pilho Park, is aimed at studying the historical and cultural heritage of Central Asia and countries of the Great Silk Road, as well as their diversified development.

The parties agreed to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership, and implement common projects within the framework of the memorandum.

IICAS was established in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) in 1995 as a result of the implementation of a large-scale UNESCO Silk Road project. The main goal of the IICAS is to attract the attention of the world community to the solution of problems of the historical and cultural development of Central Asia, as well as to strengthen cooperation of local scientists and their colleagues abroad through a multidisciplinary research of the region. At present, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan are full members of IICAS that have accepted the Agreement on Establishment of the Institute.
