TWESCO’s delegation participates in the General Assembly of the International Union of Academies (UAI)
Today, the delegation led by Darkhan Kydyrali, head of the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO), attended the opening ceremony of the General Assembly of the International Union of Academies (UAI - Union Académique Internationale).
The General Assembly, held every two years, this time is hosted by the Japanese capital, Tokyo.
Mr. Oivind Andersen, the President of the Union, opened the main session of the meeting. The Secretariat prepared a special report on the organization's activities and presented results of the research projects to the participants. Also candidates for membership in the Union were introduced and voting procedures were held.
The work of the Assembly, which brings together prominent scholars and leaders of the world’s academies, will last three days. One of the main sessions will be devoted to the "Religion, Trade and International Relations in Modern East Asia." According to the program, participants will be able to get acquainted with the research organizations of Japan and listen to various academic lectures. Also, the Union's new research projects will be presented.
It should be noted that TWESCO was accepted into the International Union of Academies, the world's highest institution of science, at the General Assembly held in Brussels in June 2015. UAI coordinating the work of research organizations of the world scientific community was established in 1919; its headquarter is located in Brussels. Today, the Union of International Academies consists of more than 100 scientific institutions from 63 countries.
