Japanese scholar delivered a lecture


Japanese scientist, Professor of the Slavonic-Eurasian Research Center at Hokkaido UniversityUyama Tomohikodelivered a scientific lecture at the TWESCO Turkic Library. President of the Academy Darkhan Kydyrali, member of the Council of Elders of the Turkic Council Adil Akhmetov, experts of Alash and Japanese studies, as well as other scientists and mass media took part in the event.

During the lecture about relations between Central Asia and Japan, Japanese scientist also touched upon Alashorda issue. Uyama Tomohiko, who conducted a number of research on Alashorda autonomy and alash figures, noted that at the beginning of the twentieth century, the Kazakh people had a different attitude towards the Japanese. Especially after the Russian-Japanese war of 1904-1905, among the Kazakh community there was a legend that Japan was a Muslim country. Alash figures, including Mirzhakyp Dulatov, Mukhtar Auezov were very interested inJapanese secrets of becoming industrially developed country. Japanese experts also met with Mustafa Shokai, who was emigrating. At the same time, Japan's position on Asia should also be different. The lecture covered these topics.

The lecture also covered current policy of Japan concerning Central Asia, including Kazakhstan. At the end of the lecture, President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali presented to the Japanese scientist a special medal of the Academy and handed the organization’s Certificate of appreciation.
