Today, the International Turkic Academy received a letter of thanks from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.
In the letter to the President of the Academy Darkhan Kydyrali, Tokayev says: “I am grateful for the facsimile of the Holy Quran, first translated into the Old Turkic language, published by the International Turkic Academy. The valuable artifact allows us to take stock of our history and enrich our spiritual treasures. At the same time, it shows that our people had a strong religion, deep knowledge and science a thousand years ago. It is clear that the translation of the Holy Quran will be an important object of study for theologians, linguists and Turkologists of the country. May the activity of the Turkic Academy, which publishes our heritage and contributes to the development of the nation’s spirituality, be fruitful!”
It should be noted that the International Turkic Academy recently published the first facsimile of the Qur’an translated into the ancient Turkic language in the era of the Karakhanid state (10th century) and presented it in Turkestan.
This unique edition is considered to be the oldest and most fully preserved version of the translation of the Qur’an that has survived to our time. Today, the original manuscript is housed in the Museum of Turkic and Islamic Art in Istanbul. The Millennium Heritage has thus been made available to scholars and researchers interested in Turkology, language and religion, and has been published in full facsimile for the first time.
